SenCom Vision and Multi-Sensory Impairment Service Third/voluntary Sector

SenCom VMSIS works across five local authorities of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen. The aim of the Service is to support the educational opportunities of all children and young people with vision or multi-sensory impairment. VIS supports children and young people from birth through to school leaving age in a variety of settings (home, play-group and school).

Sense Third/voluntary Sector

Sense is a national charity that supports & campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. They offer high-quality, flexible services across the UK, using skilled staff and a dedicated network of volunteers. They work with a wide range of deafblind and multi-sensory impaired people, as well as those with a single-sensory impairment with additional needs. They offer specialist services built around the wishes of each person, enabling them to be as independent as possible.

Sense Adventures Third/voluntary Sector

Guided activity days and short break holidays for blind and vision impaired people. Offer day activities and short breaks, in mixed groups, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. In general, holidays cost between £350 to £400 for 3 nights with guides available throughout your stay and transport from the local railway station. Thanks to generous grants from the National Lottery and other sources discounted places can be offered, so please ask. Help with travel costs and seasonal clothing can be provided as needed. Share the Vision Third/voluntary Sector

Share the Vision is a coalition of UK organisations that work together to improve the quality, availability, and accessibility of library services for visually impaired and print disabled people.

Sight and Sound Technology Private Sector

Established 30 years ago they supply equipment and services to people with sight impairments. Provide a range of access software, video magnifiers, Braille products, scan and reading machines, mobile phone solutions, training and scripting.

Sight Cymru Third/voluntary Sector

Provides services and support for people with sight loss in South Wales. In addition to listed services they run various events throughout the year such as coffee mornings, Annual Expo, i-Sight conference etc and have a specialist knowledge about people with Sight Loss and Learning Disabilities and those from different ethnicities who are at greater risk of sight loss.

Sight Life (formerly Cardiff Institute for the Blind) provides local services and lifelong support, so that blind and partially sighted people across the majority of South Wales can enjoy fulfilled lives.

Sight Loss Council Cymru Third/voluntary Sector

Wales Council of the Blind and Thomas Pocklington Trust oversee the Sight Loss Council Cymru. Sight Loss Councils (SLCs), are led by blind and partially sighted volunteer members and are established in other parts of the UK. We have established one in Wales. It aims to influence businesses and service providers to improve the accessibility of their services on a local and national level.

SNAP Cymru Third/voluntary Sector

SNAP Cymru offers free and independent information, advice and support to help get the right education for children and young people with all kinds of special educational needs (SEN) / additional learning needs (ALN) and disabilities. We give advice and support on a range of issues including assessments, individual education plans, statements of special educational needs, bullying, school attendance, exclusion, health and social care provision and discrimination. We also provide advocacy, disagreement resolution, discrimination advice, advocacy and training for young people, parents and professionals.

Social Care Institute for Excellence Third/voluntary Sector

The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) improves the lives of people who use care services by sharing knowledge about what works. It is an independent charity working with adults, families and children's social care and social work services across the UK. They also work closely with related services such as health care and housing.

Society of Visually Impaired Lawyers (SoVIL) Third/voluntary Sector

A group in which those with a visual impairment working in the legal profession can exchange ideas, share information, campaign on causes of mutual interest and provide an opportunity for support and networking between fellow professionals. SOVIL has members from all parts of the profession, including solicitors and barristers in private practice, those working in local and central government, academics and law students.

We provide a motor sport experience for people with disabilities. We believe that people who are able to take part in a sporting or physical activity find it helps with their self esteem, social interaction and physical and mental well being.
